Zongo Story Project makes reading and writing fun, empowering young Ghanaian students to write the stories they want to tell. Our unique and dynamic story-based curriculum not only helps to foster a culture of reading and writing for pleasure, it also enhances vital critical thinking skills while boosting student confidence and self-esteem.

This year, we’ve partnered with the Osu Children’s Library Fund––with additional support from Mmofra Foundation––to create our biggest and best Story Workshop yet!

Beginning Saturday, September 14th, students will meet once a week at the Nima Maamobi Gale Community Library for a special, extended 12-week session that spans nearly the entire fall academic term. Throughout this 3 month intensive, a cohort of area students will learn storytelling basics, analyze mentor texts, and complete their own narrative projects with guidance and support from local ZSP staff, teachers, and librarians.

This is where you come in! Our programming is FREE and ACCESSIBLE to program participants and that can only happen thanks to your generous donations. This year’s program will cost $2500 USD. Please consider making a donation at:

For the past three years the Zongo Story Project has helped the next generation of Ghanaian storytellers explore and cultivate their unique narrative voices through interactive writing exercises, visual art, and improvisation. In truth, to participate fully in the increasingly interconnected Knowledge Economy, increased literacy skills can longer be the definitive goal. Rather, they’re a crucial first step toward mastering essential, lifelong skills like critical analysis, reasoning, synthesis, and problem solving. Together, with your generous financial support, we can nurture and empower future generations of Ghanaian storytellers while helping to sustain the growth of Ghana’s incredibly vibrant creative economy.
